Midnight in the Graveyard is a collection of ghostly stories that will keep you awake at night long after you finish the last story. This collection of 25 tales from some of today’s best-selling authors and brightest rising stars is just what the undertaker ordered for the Halloween season. From classics by Thomas Monteleone (“The Ring of Truth”) and Robert McCammon (“Haunted World”) to new frightmares by Catherine Cavendish, Elizabeth Massie, John Everson, Glenn Rolfe, Kelli Owen, Hunter Shea, and Kealan Patrick Burke, there is something for everyone here. The stories range from quietly chilling (“Cool for Cats” by William Meikle) to grab you by the throat horrifying (“Russian Dollhouse” by Jason Parent). Among my favorites from were “Devil’s Dip” by Shannon Felton, a revenge tale that starts the anthology off on a strong note, and “Join My Club” by Somer Canon and “Swamp Vengeance” by Brian Moreland, both of which could have come straight from the files of Uncle Creepy.

I could go on, but you get the idea. From vengeful spirits to sympathetic haunts, every one of these modern tales is a classic in its own right, something I rarely say about an anthology. Most times you’re lucky if half the stories are good. This one really has no clunkers. I kept waiting to be disappointed and I never was. Kudos to Silver Shamrock Publishing for knocking it out of the graveyard!
