As part of my Women in Horror Month blog series, I'll occasionally be popping in to do spotlight blogs on some of the women writers who've had an impact on me as a writer and/or reader. Today's spotlight is on Tanya Huff. Tanya Huff is a Canadian horror, science fiction, and fantasy writer with more than 30 novels to her credit, including the wildly popular Blood Lines vampire series featuring detective Vicki Nelson. Those are the books that first brought her to my attention, back in the early 1990s. I eagerly devoured every one, and it’s pretty fair to say that her books, along with Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula series, stoked my love of contemporary fantasy and led me to similar series by Laurel Hamilton, Lee Killough, Scott Ciencin, and PN Elrod.
